Hunger Action Month

September is Hunger Action Month, when the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks unite to urge businesses and individuals to take action in their communities. Orange is the official color of hunger and Hunger Action Month™. Now more than ever our neighbors are in need. 

SEPTEMBER 1-30, 2021: Children’s Drawing Contest
Draw a picture that answers the following question: What would you grow or raise on your farm to help feed your hungry friends and family? All entries must be submitted by 9/24/21. Mail to NH Food Bank 700 East Industrial Park Drive Manchester, NH 03109. Age categories are 5 and under, 6-9, 10-14+. A small prize will be given to the winner of each category! Interested? SEPTEMBER 1-30, 2021: NH Tackles Hunger
It’s time for WMUR’s annual “NH Tackles Hunger” food drive to benefit families in your local communities! In eight years, “NH Tackles Hunger” has collected more than 657,000 pounds of food, which equals approximately 547,500 meals for NH families in need. SEPTEMBER 1-27, 2021: Canstruction
Canstruction is an event in which a structure of an organizations choosing is built using canned or packaged food items. Structures will be judged the week of 9/28/21. Once completed, all canned and packaged foods are donated to local NH Food Bank partner agencies for distribution to those in need. Interested? SEPTEMBER 4, 2021: Run Your Buns Off 4.2 Miler
The Newfound Area Charitable fund is hosting their 12th Annual Run Your Buns Off 4.2 Miler, benefiting NH Food Bank, on September 4, 2021! This unique, fun-filled 4.2 mile course starts and finishes near the shore of Newfound Lake. Check out their race page for more information and to register! 

SEPTEMBER 12, 24, 25: Stuff a Cruiser Food Drives
Help Concord Police and the NH Food Bank fight hunger! Stuff a cruiser with food donations, meet your local law enforcement officers, and make a difference in your community!

  • Sunday, September 12: Market Basket, 108 For Eddy Road, Concord, NH from 9am to 1pm. In partnership with The Friendly Kitchen.
  • Friday, September 24: Shaw’s, 20 Fort Eddy Road, from 9am-1pm. In partnership with The Salvation Army of Concord.
  • Saturday, September 25: Hannaford, 73 Fort Eddy Road from 9am-1pm. In partnership with Friends of Forgotten Children.

SEPTEMBER 13, 2021: 12th Annual WBS-HUB Golf Tournament
This annual golf tournament to benefit the New Hampshire Food Bank will be held at Manchester Country Club with an 10AM shotgun scramble format. All funds raised at the golf outing will support the New Hampshire Food Bank’s efforts to expand food distribution and innovative educational programs to reach those who need it most. SEPTEMBER 15, 2021: Hunger is the Pitts 5k

SEPTEMBER 17, 2021: Hunger Action Day®
To celebrate Hunger Action Day® on September 17 and bring awareness to the issue of hunger in our communities throughout September, buildings, landmarks and people across the country will go orange. Wear orange, turn your social media profile pictures orange, and encourage others to do the same!

SEPTEMBER 24 + OCTOBER 1, 2021: Mac Off Competition
Sign up for the 7th annual Mac Off Competition, and see how much Mac & Cheese your team can pack! An average adult packs 150 Mac & Cheese meals in 1 hour. All Mac Packs will be distributed to families in need. We will host 5 lines with 10 team members per line at 2 hour intervals from 8:00a – 5:30p. Interested?
