Sunflower Soirée to take place 10 AM to 7 PM daily from Saturday, Aug. 10, through Sunday, Aug. 18, at Brookford Farm in Canterbury. For every paid admission, Brookford Farm will donate one pound of fresh produce to the NH Food Bank
Canterbury, NH – Brookford Farm is set to once again celebrate local farms and producers with its Sunflower Soirée, a weeklong, family-friendly celebration of diversified farming. Taking place daily from 10 AM to 7 PM from Saturday, August 10, through Sunday, August 18, the Sunflower Soirée will feature pick-your-own sunflowers, farm-to-table food, a live barnyard, a daily cow parade, ice cream, local vendors, musicians and more. Tickets are available to purchase online (children 4 and under are free). For every paid attendee, Brookford Farm, located at 250 West Road in Canterbury, will donate one pound of its organic produce to the New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, to help nourish those in need in the Granite State.
“All staff members at Brookford Farm are enthusiastic about our partnership with the New Hampshire Food Bank,” said Luke and Catarina Mahoney, Owners, Brookford Farm. “We understand that many of us are only a few unlucky instances from being in a situation where we may need food assistance.”
In 2023, Brookford Farm donated 1,619 pounds of produce to the New Hampshire Food Bank through its first Sunflower Soirée—the equivalent of nearly 1,350 meals. The New Hampshire Food Bank distributed the food statewide to those in need through its more than 400 partner agencies, which includes food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers, after-school programs and more.
“The New Hampshire Food Bank is incredibly grateful to Brookford Farm for its generosity and support, and we are thrilled to partner once again for this celebration of New Hampshire farms and producers,” said Eileen Liponis, Executive Director, New Hampshire Food Bank. “The New Hampshire Food Bank is committed to improving access to fresh, nutritious foods for those experiencing food insecurity, and donations like this are crucial to that ongoing effort. Brookford Farm’s generous and continued commitment to donating its organic produce to the Food Bank will have a profound impact on the lives of those experiencing hunger in communities throughout the state.”
The New Hampshire Food Bank distributes nutritious food and resources to New Hampshire residents in need. In 2023, as the state’s only Food Bank, the New Hampshire Food Bank procured and provided more than 16 million pounds of non-perishable food items, fresh produce, and meats to more than 400 nonprofit food agencies in all corners of New Hampshire.
